Surprising findings from John Jemmott’s new study on abstinence-only interventions

A new study conducted by John B. Jemmott III, Ph.D., the Kenneth B. Clark Professor of Communication and Psychiatry at Annenberg, and his associated Penn colleagues, has shown that an abstinence-only intervention for pre-teens was more successful in delaying the onset of sexual activity than a health-promotion control intervention.  The full report appears in the February 1 edition of the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine. Details available here. The study generated press almost immediately, including a heavily-circulated story from the Associated Press. Extensive news coverage of this study is anticipated.
