Study on Social isolation continues to generate "ink"

A study conducted by a team of Annenberg researchers, led by Keith Hampton., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communication, for the Pew Internet & American Life Project demonstrating that technology does not isolate people (as previously thought), continues to generate interest among the news media.  Recent stories have appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer, WHYY news, Computer Power User, and the blog The Committed Sardine.  Additionally, Professor Hampton will talk about his research as a guest on the WHYY program “Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane” on Wednesday, January 6 beginning at 11 a.m. 

Kathleen Hall Jamieson’s advice for candidates on the campaign trail

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, was interviewed for a story in The Philadelphia Inquirer calling for better campaigns in New Jersey. 

Dan Romer debunks the suicide myth - again

Every holiday season brings out stories in the news about the holidays being a time when suicides are on the rise. Not so, says Dan Romer, Ph.D., research director of the Adolescent Communication Institute at the Annenberg Public Policy Center. Fortunately, Dr. Romer is frequently interviewed on this subject, debunking the suicide myth. His quotes most recently appear in The Washington Times.

Student News

Lauren (Loi) Sessions was interviewed for a recent story in Philly.com, discussing historic milestones leading up to 2010.  According to Ms. Sessions, “Internet users have both larger and more diverse social networks, rather than being isolated.”

Student Mario Rodriguez published in the journal Colloquy.
