Prof. Zelizer explains the news media's coverage of death and tragedy Barbie Zelizer, Ph.D., the Raymond Williams Professor of Communication, was a guest on the Feb. 24 broadcast of "Focus 580" on WILL-AM at the University of Illinois, Urbana) about the media's coverage of disasters. Prof. Kraidy lecture, Wilson Center book talk in Washington, D.C. Marwan M. Kraidy, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Communication at Annenberg, will give the lecture, “Arab Music Videos: Emergent Media and Contentious Politics, Center for Contemporary Arab Studies” on March 23 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The next day, March 24, Prof. Kraidy will discuss his new book Reality Television and Arab Politics: Contention in Public Life at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. There will be a live webcast of the talk. Prof. Mutz joins National Election Studies board, attending international workshop Diana Mutz, Ph.D., the Samuel A. Stouffer Professor of Communication and Political Science at Annenberg, has accepted an invitation to serve on the American National Election Studies Board (ANES). Additionally, this week she is attending the Behavior Genetics Association 2010 International Workshop on Methodology of Twin and Family Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Devra C. Moehler, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communication has published the article “Democracy, Governance, and Randomized Development Assistance,” in the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. Doctoral student Brooke Duffy published Annenberg doctoral student Brooke Erin Duffy has published the article, “Empowerment Through Endorsement? Polysemic Meaning in Dove’s User-Generated Advertising” in Communication, Culture & Critique. Lori Robertson, Managing Editor of FactCheck.org, was interviewed for a February 26 broadcast on The Takeaway, scrutinizing the hours of politicking during the Obama health care summit. "The truth is a little bit complicated," said Robertson. April 9 at 3 p.m. at the Penn Bookstore – Alumna Idil Cakim (ASC ’98) will discuss her book Implementing Word of Mouth Marketing: Online Strategies to Identify Influencers, Craft Stories, and Draw Customers (Wiley, 2010). April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Penn Bookstore – Sharrona Pearl, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communication, will discuss her new book, About Faces: Physiognomy in Nineteenth-Century Britain (2010 Harvard).
