New Book by Prof. Barbie Zelizer About To Die: How News Images Move the Public, the new book by Barbie Zelizer, Ph.D., the Raymond Williams Professor of Communication and Director of the Scholars Program in Culture and Communication, was featured in a recent edition of the Penn Current. November 8 – George Gerbner Post Doc Dan Berger, Ph.D. (Gr. ’10) to speak at Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. November 15 – Huffington Post political columnist Howard Fineman to discuss the November 2 elections. Noon in Room 500. November 19 – Noon time colloquium by Carolyn Marvin, Ph.D., the Frances Yates Professor of Communication, “Virtual Worlds the Old-Fashioned Way: Mythopoeic Space in Varanasi.” Faculty, Annenberg in the news Prof. Kathleen Hall Jamieson quoted in an Associated Press story about the use of Private Investigators in political campaigns. Eugene Kiely, Philadelphia Director of FactCheck.org, was a guest on the NPR program “Voices in the Family” discussing truth during the election season. Annenberg alumna Jude (Judith) McDivitt, Ph.D. (ASC ’81, Gr ’85) currently with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, is the recipient of the Distinguished Career Award from the American Public Health Association (Public Health Education & Health Promotion section). Dr. McDivitt will receive her honor during the APHA’s annual meeting in Denver Nov. 6 – 10.
