Report ranks ASC tops among doctoral communications programs A new report from the National Research Council ranks the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication among the top five communication doctoral programs in the nation. Book by Professor Carolyn Marvin tops "Tech Canon" list When Old Technologies Were New: Thinking About Electric Communication in the Late Nineteenth Century, (Oxford University Press, 1988) by Annenberg’s Carolyn Marvin, Ph.D., the Frances Yates Professor of Communication, has been named by the editors of Atlantic Monthly as the number one-ranked book on their new “Atlantic Tech Canon” list of the 50 most influential trade and scholarly works about science and technology. Doctoral student Piotr M. Szpunar published in Memory Studies. Doctoral student Lori Young published in International Journal of Press/Politics. Jemmott study: School-based program reduces risky sexual behaviors in South African teens. Professor Diana Mutz’ “In Your Face” political research referenced in Politics Democracy blog. Dan Romer, Ph.D., Director of the Adolescent Communication Institute of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, was interviewed for Philadelphia Inquirer story about school district’s censorship of R-rated films. Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman discussed technology’s impact on politics and journalism at a recent lecture at Annenberg. Adjunct Joan Garry named to U.S. Commission on Human Rights position.
