Prof. Krippendorff on human-centered design

Klaus Krippendorff, Ph.D., the Gregory Bateson Professor for Cybernetics, Language, and Culture, was invited by the Universidad de Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Columbia for an intensive intervention on behalf of human-centered design, based on his book The Sematic TurnYou can see a video of the event here.

Prof. Hampton talks about the state of American neighbors

Keith N. Hampton, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communication, participated in a State Farm Insurance/Harris Interactive survey of 17,000 people to determine the state of the American neighborhood. You can see a video of Prof. Hampton talking about the survey here.  Prof. Hampton also was interviewed in a number of news outlets with respect to this survey, including a recent interview on CBS’ “The Osgood Files.”

Annenberg faculty weighs in on the debt ceiling crisis

As politicians in Washington did battle over the national debt, the news media turned to Annenberg faculty and adjuncts for perspective.  Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, was a guest on Public Radio International July 26 to weigh in on the debt ceiling debate.  She was interviewed on the same subject on the NPR program The Takeaway. She also was interviewed for the Center for Public Integrity’s iWatch news web site on the subject.  Annenberg teaching adjunct Al Felzenberg questioned President Obama’s role in the process in his column in US News & World Report.

In other news, Prof. Jamieson talks about the potential effects a new documentary about Sarah Palin may have on Palin’s political aspirations.  “There aren’t many people who go to these things who aren’t already converted,” she said.  More…

Michael Hennessy, Ph.D., Research Analysis Manager at the Annenberg Public Policy Center, and colleagues published the article “Multiple Method Contraception Use Among African American Adolescents in Four US Cities” in Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Volume 2011).

Leonore Annenberg Scholarship Fund

The Bangor (Maine) Daily News was one of the first of many news organizations to feature a story about Kassandra Hopkins, one of five nationwide recipients of the a scholarship from the Leonore Annenberg Scholarship and School Fund, administered by the Annenberg Public Policy Center.  More coverage of these prestigious awards can be found in a recent edition of The Chattanoogan, in Chattanooga, TN.
