Annenberg doctoral students were recognized during Penn’s 255th Commencement on Monday, May 16. 

Annenberg honors undergraduate communication majors

Undergraduate communication majors celebrated the completion of their studies during ceremonies at the Annenberg Center’s Zellerbach Theatre on Sunday, May 15. Watch future issues of Annenberg In Touch for a link to a video recording of the talk delivered by Alumna Vanessa Bayer (C '04).

Barbie Zelizer, Ph.D., the Raymond Williams Professor of Communication and Director of the Scholars Program in Culture and Communication, was interviewed by ABC News and CNN for thoughts on soon-to-be seen photos of Princess Diana moments before her death due to an automobile accident.

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, talked to The Boston Globe about a political advertising campaign undertaken by the heretofore neutral League of Women’s voters.

Joseph Turow, Ph.D., the Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication, was interviewed by The Washington Post for a story about smart phone tracking capabilities.

Prof. Turow also was the keynote speaker earlier this month at a conference at the UCLA School of Nursing.  Playing off the theme of his book Playing Doctor, Prof. Turow’s talk was titled “Playing Nursing, Playing Doctor: Influences on TV Scripts Past & Present.”

APPC research into gambling cited.

Annenberg’s FactCheck is featured in The Bellevue Reporter for a May 10 article on Republican candidates and the black vote.  Tapped once again for the facts, FactCheck is referenced in an April 28 story on the Royal Wedding and “dodgy British claims.”  Also, FactCheck received an award from Sigma Delta Chi.
