Documentary by Prof. Jackson to be screened in Los Angeles

“Bad Friday,” a documentary by John L. Jackson, Jr., Ph.D., will be shown this week at the Hollywood Black Film Festival.

Prof. Kraidy delivers talks in Istanbul, Lisbon

During his sabbatical research trek through the Middle East, Marwan M. Kraidy, Ph.D., spoke to academic audiences at universities in Turkey and Lisbon, Portugal (the latter via Skype).

Faculty in the news

The death of Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi was accompanied by graphic images of the Libyan leader’s corpse.  Barbie Zelizer, Ph.D., provided perspective in stories that appeared in Reuters,  and Salon.com.

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., wrote a short opinion piece for the Oct. 23 edition of The New York Times about presidential debating skills.

Student news

Doctoral student Khadijah White has been very active with the Occupy Philadelphia movement.  She talked about the use of social media in organizing the protests in an article in The Philadelphia Inquirer, she talked about the proposal to extend the city’s curfew in a story in METRO and in WHYY radio’s Newsworks program and making a guest appearance on the Comcast public service program Voice of Reason with Larry KaneOn Monday, Oct. 24 she was a guest on radio station WURD in Philadelphia talking about the Occupy Philly movement.
