Vanessa Bayer (C ’04), a featured player on the NBC television show “Saturday Night Live,” will be the guest speaker at the Annenberg School for Communication undergraduate graduation ceremony, Sunday, May 15, at 10 a.m. in the Annenberg Center for Performing Arts’ Zellerbach Theatre, 3680 Walnut Street.

Ms. Bayer was a communication major while at Penn. She also was a member of “Bloomers,” the all-female musical and sketch comedy group on Penn’s campus.  Prior to joining Saturday Night Live she trained in the Chicago area and performed as an understudy for The Second City’s Mainstage and touring company.  Ms. Bayer starred in the acerbic puppet show “Felt” and with the improvisational team “Revolver” while in Chicago. She also wrote and performed in the Annoyance Theater’s “Sweet Jar” and she performed stand-up comedy at Zaines comedy club in Chicago.  A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Bayer interned at “Sesame Street” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” while in college.

This is the second year the undergraduate graduation ceremony features an alumni speaker.  In 2010, Trang Do (C ’06) a reporter with WAFF television in Huntsville, AL, was the guest speaker.
