Prof. Jackson discusses Black Hebrew culture at UConn event John L. Jackson, Jr., Ph.D., the Richard Perry University Professor of Communication and Anthropology, discussed his research into black Hebrew culture during a recent talk at the University of Connecticut. More coverage about Prof. Turow’s book The Daily You: How the New Advertising Industry Is Defining Your Identity and Your Worth, the new book by Joseph Turow, Ph.D., the Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication, continues to generate buzz. The work was featured in a Knowledge@Wharton video story, the website socialmeditoday.com reviewed it, and Prof. Turow talked about his research during an Ad.Tech conference in San Francisco. Penn, Annenberg to host USC Shoah Foundation Video Archive The University of Pennsylvania becomes the first Pennsylvania university to house the USC Shoah Foundation Institute’s entire Visual History Archive of 52,000 video testimonies of survivors and other witnesses of the Holocaust from 56 countries in 32 languages. A reception marking the availability of this online archive will take place in the lobby of the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, 3680 Walnut Street, on Monday, April 23 at 5 p.m. Click here to register for the event. Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, talked to the Cedar Rapids (IA) Gazette about the challenges of sorting fact from spin in this year’s campaign. Prof. Jamieson also explained the theory of political “Darwinism” to the Associated Press. She explains the tendency of political candidates to beat on the news media in a story in The Washington Times. Barbie Zelizer, Ph.D., the Raymond Williams Professor of Communication, talked to Marketplace Radio about the Kony 2012 video and campaign. FactCheck.org was cited in the April 10 edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer, pointing out errors in statements made by presidential candidate Rick Santorum.
