Fishbein_ANNALS

A special edition of The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, featuring content from lectures delivered during the Martin Fishbein Memorial Seminar Series, is now available online.

Faculty news         

Marwan M. Kraidy, Ph.D., Professor of Communication, was a guest on the Al Jazeera English program “Listening Post” talking about the success (or lack thereof) both the Syrian government and Syrian opposition have had in implementing propaganda campaigns. 

Prof. Kraidy also recently lectured at Georgetown University in Qatar, talking about the 2011 Arab Spring.

Joseph Turow, Ph.D., the Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication, provided insights and a primer on online advertising to a report from the Pew Excellence in Journalism about the starts and stops in the growth of legacy-type advertisers in the online world. Last week he contributed to the legal blog “Concurring Opinions,” writing about privacy issues related to targeted online marketing. 

New Scientist lauds Prof. Turow’s book. Calling it “required reading in today’s Web 3.0 age,” you can read the review of The Daily You: How the New Advertising Industry is Defining Your Identity and Your Worth here.  Prof. Turow also talks about the book in an interview with Digiday.com.

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, talks about Super PACs and their role in the Republican Party presidential campaign in the Guardian (UK).

Amy Bleakley, Ph.D., researcher in the Annenberg Public Policy Center, discussed the topic of sex education effectiveness for a story that ran on Reuters.com.
