State of the Union 2012

The State of the Union (SOTU) address by President Barack Obama was the lead story in the news.  Annenberg’s Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication, talked to Colorado Public Radio about Congressman Doug Lamborn’s decision to boycott the address.  Prof. Jamieson also explained the role of the SOTU as a political tool in an interview with Bloomberg.com.  Speaking of campaign news, Prof. Jamieson was interviewed by The Hartford (CT) Courant about candidates who use personal stories to relate to the public.

Michael X. Delli Carpini, Ph.D., Professor of Communication and Walter H. Annenberg Dean, is one of several Penn faculty who talk about the Occupy Wall Street movement in a feature in the current issue of the Pennsylvania Gazette.

John L. Jackson, Jr., Ph.D., the Richard Perry University Professor of Communication and Anthropology, is editor-in-chief of the anthropology section of the Oxford Bibliographies.

Joseph Turow, Ph.D., the Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication, talked to the public radio program Marketplace Tech Report about online ad tracking and its potential use in political campaigns.   

Diana Mutz, Ph.D., the Samuel A. Stouffer Professor of Communication and Political Science, and doctoral student Lori Young published in Public Opinion Quarterly.

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication, talks to the Hartford (CT) Courant about candidates who use personal stories to relate to the public.

Carolyn Marvin, Ph.D., the Frances Yates Professor of Communication, talked to The Daily Pennsylvanian about the stop internet piracy act mulled about in Congress.

Dorothy Chou, senior policy analyst with Google (above, at podium), talked about internet transparency in the first in a series of lectures by the Annenberg School for Communication’s Center for Global Communication Studies.
