Dean Delli Carpini to speak at CDI conference

Michael X. Delli Carpini, Ph.D., Professor of Communication and Walter H. Annenberg Dean, will be a panelist for the event “Philanthropy and the  Digital Public Dialogue: Challenges and New Opportunities,”  April 30 in Los Angeles.  The event is being run by the Center for Digital Information.

New book by secondary faculty member Peter Decherney

Hollywood’s Copyright Wars: From Edison to the Internet is the new book by Peter Decherney, Ph.D., Associate Professor of English and Cinema Studies and a secondary faculty member at the Annenberg School for Communication.

Prof. Decherney discussed his book and related research at two events. On March 2 he spoke to an audience at the University of Toronto during a symposium on law and film. And just this week he addressed an audience at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication, in:

March 8 - The Pennsylvania Record  for a story about merit selection bills.
March 14 – PennLive.com, for a story about pandering to voters by presidential candidates.
March 14 – WHYY’s “NewsWorks” for a story about getting facts straight during primary season.
March 17 – ABC News for a story headlined “Why Politicians Can’t Just Be Friends.”
March 19 – Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for a story about political attack ads.

Student news

Annenberg doctoral student Sandra Ristovska will present her paper, “Nostalgia, National Identity, and the Chase of Montevideo, Taste of a Dream” this week at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies Conference (SCMS) in Boston.

Additionally, Ms. Ristovska is the recipient of a “Distinguished Student Delegate Award” during the upcoming Milton Wolf Seminar.
