Prof. Jemmott receives $2 million NIH grant Researchers from Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine, Annenberg, and the School of Nursing, led by John B. Jemmott, III, Ph.D., the Kenneth B. Clark Professor of Communication and Psychiatry, have received a $2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study novel approaches to preventing chronic diseases in HIV positive African American men. Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication, was a guest on the March 26 edition of the NPR program The Takeaway discussing the challenges to President Obama’s health care reform. Prof. Jamieson also was interviewed for a blog on the ABC News site titled “Why Politicians Can’t Just Be Friends.” Joseph Turow, Ph.D., the Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication, was interviewed by Robert McChesney on “Media Matters” the University of Illinois-Urbana campus radio program. Prof. Turow talked about his book The Daily You: How the New Advertising Industry is Defining Your Identity and Your Worth (Yale University Press 2011). Doctoral students Lindsey Beutin and Kevin Gotkin will present their research this week at the Cultural Studies Association conference in San Diego.
