APPC Fact-checking event

The Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) sponsored the event “The Role of Journalism in Fact-Checking,” on September 26 at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.  The half-day series of panel discussions featured presentations by Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Ph.D., the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and Director of the APPC; Brooks Jackson, Director of FactCheck.org; Bruce W. Hardy, Ph.D. (Gr ’10), senior research analyst at APPC; and doctoral student Emily Thorson.  You can watch the full panel, which was covered by C-SPAN, here.  You also can read column about the panel from The New York Times here.

Discussing the Lincoln attack advertisements, Prof. Jamieson talks about critical thinking in the context of whether Abraham Lincoln could be elected nowadays.

Amy Jordan, Ph.D., Director of the Media and the Developing Child sector of the APPC, talks about bullying and how to combat it for a WebMD story.
