Congratulations NCA presenters and award-winners

Annenberg students and faculty will present their research at the 99th National Communication Association conference in Washington, D.C. later this month.  Six presentations were honored with top paper or competitively selected paper honors.

Amy Jordan receives teaching award from NCA

Annenberg’s Amy B. Jordan, Ph.D. is the recipient of the 2013 National Communication Association’s (NCA) Mass Communication Division Teaching Award.  This marks the first time a current member of the Annenberg School for Communication has received this honor from NCA.

Faculty in the news – the Kennedy assassination

The 50th Anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is November 22.  Annenberg faculty was called upon several times to provide perspective on this occasion. Prof. Barbie Zelizer, who wrote Covering the Body: The Kennedy Assassination, the Media, and the Shaping of Collective Memory, was interviewed by the Hamilton (Ontario, Canada) Spectator. Another interview with Prof. Zelizer regarding JFK is scheduled to appear this weekend in The Philadelphia Inquirer.   Also, watch the CBS Evening News this week for a JFK anniversary-related interview with Annenberg instructor and Presidential historian Al Felzenberg.

Annenberg in the news – CGCS study on Iranian Wiki censorship

A study by the Center for Global Communication Studies’ Iran Media Program uncovers what articles the Iranian government censors on the Persian language Wikipedia.    Buzzfeed was one of the first outlets with coverage.

APPC study: Gun violence in PG-13 movies is worse than it is in R-rated flicks

A new study from the Annenberg Public Policy Center tracked the increase in gun violence PG-13 movies.  The study picked up a lot of media interest, including this story from the November 11 edition of The New York Times.

Electing the President – 2012

The latest book from the Annenberg Public Policy Center’s Presidential campaign debriefing has been published.
