Prof. Guobin Yang will deliver two lectures on the past and present of communication and community in China. The first one will take place on September 14 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Confucius Institute. There the topic of his talk is “Are You Happy? Narratives of Self and Community in China, 1968 – 2012.” The second will take place on Monday, September 16, at a symposium at UNC Asheville where the title of his talk is “Communication and Community in Contemporary China.” New book chapter by Prof. Marwan M. Kraidy. Carlin Romano delivers talks at the 23rd World Congress of Philosophy. Prof. Kathleen Hall Jamieson talked to the Los Angeles Times about the challenges of using a presidential speech to sway public opinion. Prof. Kraidy talks to The Philadelphia Inquirer about people’s understanding of the conflict in Syria. The Annenberg Public Policy Center was a partner of the Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands and the Aspen Institute’s Justice and Society Program in releasing a report today on Congressional oversight of Homeland Security. The report was cited in an op ed in the September 11 edition of The New York Times. Lori Robertson of FactCheck.org talks to The Philadelphia Inquirer about the Affordable Care Act.
