ASC, Wharton PPI sponsor visit and lecture by former U.S. Treasury official

Mark A. Patterson, former chief of staff to U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew, will be a visiting scholar at the Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative March 31 – April 1.

His visit is jointly sponsored by the Penn Wharton Public Policy Initiative and the Annenberg School for Communication. It will include a public lecture at 4:30 p.m. March 31 – tentatively titled “Choosing Public Service: Costs, Benefits, and Strategies for Landing the Right Job in the Public Sector” (Huntsman Hall Room 350) – and one-on-one visits with Penn students and faculty. This is part of an initiative to introduce government employees to Penn students interested in government career paths.

New book chapter by Prof. Pickard

Contributed chapter “Unfounded Fears of Press Subsidies,” to the book, State Aid for Newspapers, (Springer 2013).

Prof Krippendorff delivers keynote at Amsterdam conference

Feb. 6 – 8 event was organized by the Interaction Design Association.

Reminder: well-wishes for Prof. Katz

There is ample time to offer good wishes via an online forum to Prof. Elihu Katz, who is transitioning to emeritus status this year. 

New publication looks at communication effects on use of medical imaging

Andy Tan, colleagues from the Annenberg Center of Excellence in Cancer Communication Research, published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention.
